How to Create Mind Shifts for Extraordinary Results
Every success story is a constant tale of adaptation, revision and change
Goal achievement is our marker for success. How we stay on course and reach desired results when we aim at extraordinary achievement in life, depends a lot on how we perceive the world around ourselves.
Causing a shift in our thinking, a change that will allow us to get closer to the best goals of life, is in itself a baffling experience for those who are not in the know.
“The Know”, is self knowledge, having an idea of how our mind works is the first focus point for anybody who wishes to create a mind shift and achieve extraordinary results.
Achieving anything worthwhile is going to be an big event in most people’s lives. The world today, has become a tough and competitive place to do business.
Just being able to gain traction in your field of choice and make some waves is hard enough.
But before I totally bring you down with realities as we see them, let me remind you that most people don’t achieve anything extraordinary in life. They want it, they think about it, the talk about it and then, they do little to nothing about making it really happen. Why?
Well, my observations tell me that it’s hard for most people to face up to their fears — so they do the easy thing and avoid them. That type of behavior guarantees one outcome; nothing, at all.
- Facing up to fear is a requirement if you want to create change
Change is the only strong indicator that you are making something happen in your life. The desire to change is a powerful emotion, the act of change is driven by desire emotions, most people, about 80% of the population around the world, don’t like going through changes and shifting from one way of thinking to another; it creates such a difference in life that it makes a person feel very uncomfortable. Most people resist change.
2. Knowing that change will make you feel uncomfortable — but it won’t kill you, or make you any poorer, is an important understanding to take on-board.
Facing up to your fears is like letting something go. It doesn’t feel like you thought it would, it feels like a positive event in life.
When you face a fear and take action it builds your confidence. It’s like that first time you rode a bicycle, then realized the person who was holding the bike upright for you had let you go long ago. Exhilarating.
Learning to ride a bike, skating, learning to balance, jump, and handle yourself in a challenging crowd of people, winning a contract, are all steps along the path to extraordinary achievement, baby steps that show us how changes are healthy and desirable.
Without actions that stem from solid thoughts, you achieve nothing much. Your actions will be led by fear, not by your plan of action.
As you act, you learn. There are many realizations that come only through actions. You can’t think everything through and know whether you are right or not; you have to test things and find out.
3. Take action. Create an action oriented mindset that you practice regularly. If you do this, you create a habit that becomes a desire to discover more through actions.
The combination of powerful thinking about how to create a change in your life, and combining that with acting on your plans, opens up a new perspective for you. It’s like reaching a new plane of thought that wasn’t available to you before actions and thoughts were combined.
You can’t learn to ride a bike by thinking about it. You can’t become a great photographer reading books, and learning what each button does. And you certainly can’t start a business by reading, thinking and pondering your choices; you have to act and test.
4. Perspectives based on a viewpoint of fearful thinking will hold you back. Your mind will show you that you can’t achieve what you want to accomplish because your mind is working on preconceived ideas of fearful thinking. If you hang-on to the branches of fear, swinging from one to the other, you will go round in circles.
Negativity hangs from every branch of the fear tree. Some people tend an orchid of such trees each and everyday, and believe that they are protecting themselves from harm and wasteful actions.
Some people take courage and jump from the tree of fear. Once free, you don’t go back.
Eliminate negative thoughts with the brutal intervention of solid, realistic thoughts about how you want to change, take action and discover what’s really possible — thoughts don’t show us anything more than how we feel about something.
Negative thoughts often prove themselves to be cowards -they flee when challenged.
Allowing protective thoughts to creep into your dreams creates deceptions. Such thoughts are prone to naturally formulate into protective patterns that we have elicited from fearful thinking.
When you set new goals, you are telling yourself that you are going to change. The emotions that help you set those goals are real desires — not fleeting feelings — they are solid thoughts that you carry with you each day.
For many people those thoughts are half-formed. They don’t pay enough attention to them in order for them to formulate into powerful motivators that we go to bed with, and wake up with in the morning.
They are your thoughts, not for sharing. I don’t care what anybody says, you don’t throw pearls before swine. Keep your thoughts to yourself and let other people observe that a change is happening in your life. Show, don’t tell.
5. Keep your ideas and thoughts to yourself — don’t allow your ego to take over and start to shout it from the rooftops, it will come up with wild-assed ideas about how you can change your ideas, develop them into bigger things, ego will take you for a ride out into the blue yonder and dump you in the desert.
The same goes for friends and relatives. They will either smile and nod at your announcements, or they will try and dissuade you from making a fool of yourself. Often, people believe they are being helpful by telling you how to make your plans better. I perceive helpful advice about my plans as nothing more than other people’s fears being projected onto me. The word “dump”, comes to mind.
Creating a shift in thinking that leads to extraordinary results in your life, is a matter of overcoming the inertia caused by too much thinking, perfection seeking, obsessing with niggle points in a plan, and doing everything possible to avoid actually starting with actions.
Our lives are managed through fear. We are brought up to look at the negative side of life from the get go, school tells us what we can’t do, the law is based on prohibitive action — what you can’t do, or else. Work is full of rules about “if” you do this or that, you get fired. Many people are confused about how to implement their ideas at work because there is no system in place for ideas that bubble up from the workers.
Everything that we learn, seems to be based on admonishments, if you do this or that. When we look closely at our lives, and we see that we must do better, we desire to change and make more money, and do quality work that benefits ourselves and others, it appears as if there is a system in place that says you shouldn’t do that — change for the better? That’ll cause problems all round, stay put and don’t do anything. but we still think too much about change and create more frustration in our lives than is necessary.
Fear is welcome in the work place, it keeps people in line. Thinking too much is scary for others, it’s the beginning of dissatisfaction which will lead to change.
Fearless living is also a learning process, we must test our actions to discover solid thoughts. You can’t live inside all of the time and expect the world to know what you feel and think. A plan executed, made to work with determined motivation and desire, will have more value than wishes ever did.
Success is a state of mind based on what suits you. Follow your true path and discover what happiness means to you personally, the amount of money that solves your problems is all you need, the type of business or occupation that you work at, should suit your personality.
Discovery is success already, it’s the path, the journey has started that we all have been waiting for. It leads to what you want and it shows you more of what you really want, change creates more change. One day you will realize that change is improvement, and that’s what you were hoping for all along.
Step up to your dreams and experiment with overcoming fears, embracing odd changes, being aware of the steps you take, and now and again, sitting down and looking over the plans you made, just to check them before you step on board and continue the journey that makes you a happy traveler.
