Framing Life Creatively with Your Camera

Every photographer looks at life through the frame of the camera. The frame helps us to separate the general from the specific. Every shot is an attempt at understanding the world — both physically and mentally/spiritually. We use the frame to disclude objects, and to include objects.

When I saw this, I was grabbed by the colours, the combination of green and magenta. I was hoping the blue framework behind would pop a little more, but its still in the background. All three colours create a balance colour shot. There’s a lot happening in the frame, and it was difficult to decide on the final composition: I let it go at this, hoping it works.

When we have the opportunity to work in a studio environment, which can be a home set up, or a special place designated as studio, we give ourselves the luxury of time to think about what we’re looking at. If you’re out and about, walking with a camera in hand and looking for something that could make a good photo, then spontaneity is at work. In spite of this, a strong intention about what you’re looking at is important if you want a good shot.

I’ve spent time doing only street photography, and for myself, it became too limited, and too repetitive. Maybe, the pandemic had something to do with it. The people on the street began to all look the same, their actions were all about doing a quick shopping trip and back…
